- Robert Falcon Scott et son équipe d'exploration arrivent au pôle sud, mais les communication sont difficile et tout semble croire qu'ils sont en danger. La Royal Navy leur porte assistance, mais l'aide arrivera seulement en mai.

- Le gouvernement annonce un budget austère alors que la lourde dette de l'Empire menace les réformes et les progrès sociaux des dernières années.
